Adirondack Peeks Summer 2023

Peter Wilson #6963 with his father William (Bill) Wilson #2299 on Whiteface for Peter’s 46er finish. From R-L: John, Tamara Tarbell, Tracy Tarbell, Conor Tarbell. IN THE PACK We welcome new PEEKS coeditors, Kim Morse and Sherry Roulston as they embark on their new journey of serving the Adirondack 46ers! Here's what they each had to say about this new adventure. Kim Morse The opportunity to align your passion and your work doesn't come around every day, and this is why I jumped at the chance to share my skills with the Adirondack 46ers as PEEKS coeditor. My hope is that my work with the magazine will move current readers and reach new ones as we come together to provide access to, admire, and preserve our beloved mountains. Sherry Roulston My summers spent in Merrill, NY, on Upper Chateauguay Lake grounded me and provided me with woods, lakes, and mountains to explore. Stories from my great grandfather’s book, The Old Guide Story stoked my cu- “An empty backpack does little to support a hiker. A full backpack is necessary. The same holds true for the 46er organization, we need many volunteers to assist us and they are highlighted here.” Thank you for your service! riosity and passion for the Adirondacks. His reverence for nature guided me. At the start of my 46er journey, I assumed this guidance was all I needed. I was wrong and soon realized that the hikers I met on the trail would carry me through. Charlie Merrill’s words of wisdom are always with me, but I also think of the friends I’ve made and the knowledge they shared throughout this journey. Without their support and encouragement, I couldn’t have done it. As I tackle my next challenge on this 46er journey as coeditor of PEEKS, I look to this band of aspiring and seasoned 46ers again for their knowledge and support. SUMMER 2023 | 63
