Adirondack Peeks Winter 2024

48 | ADIRONDACK PEEKS LETTERS TO THE EDITORS Hello Editors, A word of thanks for the latest issue of PEEKS (Summer 2024). The extended feature on Laurie Rankin was especially interesting. The mix of articles with the snippet on Noah John Rondeau and the Book Report were nice touches. Best regards, Jim Coyne, #3815V From: Luis Vasquez & Lee Barry (EZ1), #576W Subject: Jack Freeman In the "In Memoriam" section of the Summer 2024 issue of PEEKS, Jack Freeman was noted for having passed away. This picture includes Jack Freeman with my father in-law, Lee Barry (EZ1). All these hikers were part of the ADK Rochester Winter Mountaineering Society. EZ1 is 101-years-old and doing fine but his get up and go is limited due to his knees. I’ve hiked a few times with my father-in-law. EZ1 was saddened to hear about Jack but glad to have had the pleasure of hiking with him as well as completing all the 46, including in the winter. The photo was taken on February 21, 1976. Jim Boomer passed when he and EZ1 hiked in Oklahoma. Lee Barry "EZ1" sends everyone his regards. Jack Freeman is in the first row, center. EZ1 is behind him.
