Wilderness First Aid (and Responder) Program

Guidelines:

Guidelines for Wilderness First Aid (and Responder, both as WFA) reimbursement from the ADK 46ers

  1. Purpose: Set up a set of guidelines that need to followed to get reimbursement for Wilderness First Aid or Wilderness First Responder (WFA) training by The Adirondack Forty Sixers, Inc. There are two ways that this program works. The traditional program where a person takes the WFA course then applies to the Adirondack Forty-Sixers, Inc for reimbursement. The second avenue is a new program that is being sponsored by the Adirondack Forty-Sixers. Both of these avenues are outlined below.
  2. Definitions:
    1. The Adirondack Forty-Sixers Inc. The Adirondack Forty-Sixers, Inc. strives to be a safe, inclusive, just, fair, and consistent Organization that seeks to recognize those climbing and descending the forty-six Adirondack major peaks; to foster appreciation of the Adirondack wilderness and the climbing experience; to educate its members and the public to become users who are safe, well-informed, and prepared; to encourage enjoyment of the Forest Preserve in a manner consistent with preservation of the wilderness; to protect the wilderness through its programs in trail maintenance, education, and conservation, and to support projects of other organizations and communities which further the goals of the Organization.
    2. Dues – payment made to the Organization to keep a membership active. This is usually an annual fee, payable at a specific time each year.
    3. Membership
      1. Active membership is a membership where the dues are paid up to date. This will include any memberships that are in arrears of up to one (1) year.
  3. The Forty-Sixers reserve the right to limit the number of WFA reimbursements each year. The organization plans to host a WFA training program in the Spring of 2026 and therefore, reimbursements for training programs offered by other providers will be limited to the first 5 submissions in 2026.
